Playlists & Schedules

How playlists and schedules differ, and exactly which one wins when two overlap.

A playlist is an ordered list of content items. A schedule tells the platform when and where a playlist plays.

When two schedules overlap, the platform picks one deterministically:

  1. Higher priority wins.
  2. On equal priority, screen-scoped beats group-scoped beats org-wide.
  3. On equal scope, the most recently updated wins.
  4. On a complete tie, lexicographic schedule ID wins.

Daypart windows (e.g. 09:00–17:00) are evaluated in the screen’s timezone, not yours, so a screen in Tokyo plays its lunchtime content at Tokyo lunchtime.
