Terms of Service
These terms are an agreement between you and Asymmetric Enterprises LLC (“we”, “us”) covering your use of Sheencast — the website, the admin console at app.sheencast.com, the player at play.sheencast.com, and the API. By creating an account or using the service, you accept them. If you are agreeing on behalf of an organization, you confirm you are allowed to bind it.
The service
Sheencast is digital signage software. You compose content in the console, arrange it into playlists and schedules, and pair screens that play it. Screens run a web player, so what a screen shows is whatever your organization has scheduled for it.
We provide the software. You provide the screens, the network they run on, and the content they display.
Your account
An account belongs to an organization. Members hold one of three roles — admin, editor or viewer — and only an admin can invite people, change roles, manage billing, or delete the organization. Invitations are sent by email and the invitee sets their own password; we never ask you for a teammate’s password and you should not use one.
You are responsible for what happens under your account, including anything done by members you invite and by API keys you issue. Keep credentials and API keys secret, and tell us promptly if you think one has been exposed.
An email address can belong to one organization. We do not currently support one person being a member of several organizations.
Your content
Everything you upload, type, embed or schedule remains yours. We claim no ownership of it. You grant us only the permission we need to run the service — to store your content, process it, and deliver it to the screens you have paired.
You are responsible for having the right to display what you display. Signage is public: content on a screen is shown to whoever walks past it, which is a broader audience than a document shared inside a company. Licenses for music, video, fonts and images frequently distinguish between the two, and confirming you hold the right one is your job, not ours.
Acceptable use
Do not use Sheencast to display or distribute content that is unlawful, infringing, deceptive, harassing, or that you do not have the right to show. Do not attempt to access another organization’s data, probe or disrupt the service, circumvent plan limits or rate limits, or resell access to the service without our agreement.
Automated access is fine through the API using your own keys, within the published rate limits.
Plans, billing and payment
The free plan covers 3 screens, 5 GB of storage, 2 users and 1 API key, and stays free. Paid plans are billed monthly in advance, in US dollars, and prices are shown on the pricing page. Paid plans are priced per plan, not per screen.
Purchases are sold by our payment provider as merchant of record, not by us directly. The provider is the seller for that transaction, collects the billing address it needs to calculate sales tax, and issues your receipt. Payment card details go to the provider and are never held by us.
Taxes are calculated and charged by the payment provider where applicable, on top of the listed price.
Plan limits
Each plan includes an allowance of screens, storage, users and API keys. Where a limit applies, the service enforces it — you will be told when an action would exceed your plan rather than being billed for the overage.
If your fleet ends up larger than your allowance, most often after a downgrade, we do not delete anything. Your oldest screens stay active up to the allowance and the excess is disabled after a grace period of seven days. Screens you switched off yourself are left alone. Upgrading restores them automatically.
Canceling
An admin can cancel at any time from the billing settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for: you keep your plan and every feature until that date, and you can undo the cancellation at any point before it. When the period ends, the organization moves to the free plan, and any screens beyond the free allowance are disabled rather than deleted.
We do not refund the remainder of a period that has already been paid for. Because the payment provider is the seller, refunds where they are due are handled by that provider.
Deleting your organization
An admin can delete the organization from the settings page. Deletion is confirmed by typing the organization name, and then runs in two stages: the account is closed immediately and the data is permanently purged after seven days. Until the purge runs, the deletion can be reversed by contacting us.
An organization with a live paid subscription cannot be deleted — cancel the subscription first. This is deliberate: deleting the account would leave the subscription running with nothing left to cancel it from.
Purging removes your content, screens, playlists, schedules and analytics. It cannot be undone.
How long we keep things
Operational records are kept only as long as they are useful for running the service. Playback and impression analytics are kept for 60 days in full detail, with daily summaries retained for as long as your account is open. Device logs are kept for 30 days, and hourly device-health history for 14 days. Security audit records — sign-ins, pairings, settings changes — are kept for up to one year. The privacy policy describes what these contain.
Content from other services
Some templates show content that is not ours and not yours. A YouTube, Vimeo or Google Slides item is loaded by the screen directly from that service when it plays, and a weather template fetches its own forecast. Looking up a place name while editing a weather template sends that text to a third-party geocoding service.
Those services have their own terms, they can change or withdraw content without telling us, and a screen showing an embed depends on that service being reachable. We are not responsible for what they serve or for their availability.
Availability
We work to keep the service running and we do not offer a guaranteed uptime commitment. Screens are designed to keep playing their current schedule when the network or the service is unavailable, which limits the effect of an outage, but it does not eliminate it.
We may change, add or remove features. Where a change would meaningfully reduce what a paid plan provides, we will tell account admins before it takes effect.
Suspension
We may suspend an account that is not paid up, that is being used in breach of the acceptable-use section, or that is causing harm to the service or to other customers. Except where the problem is urgent, we will tell you first and give you a chance to fix it.
You can stop using the service at any time by canceling and, if you wish, deleting your organization.
Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is”. To the extent the law allows, we disclaim implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a screen will display a particular item at a particular moment.
Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, neither party is liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, even if advised such damages were possible.
Our total liability arising out of or relating to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim. If you are on the free plan, that amount is zero, and your remedy is to stop using the service.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Your indemnity
You will defend and indemnify us against claims brought by a third party arising from content you displayed through the service, or from your use of the service in breach of these terms.
Governing law
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top changes when the wording does, and it is stamped from the change itself rather than from the last time the page was touched. Where a change materially affects your rights, we will notify account admins. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept it.
