The building drawn in section: floors stacked against a shaft line, each level annotated with what it holds, hatched ground at the base. A directory is a diagram of a building, so drawing it as one tells people where they are as well as where to go — and the drafting grid behind it makes a lobby screen look like it belongs to the building rather than to a marketing department.
